Chitosan is extracted from shellfish such as shrimp, lobster and crabs. It is a polysaccharide which help to reduce weight, lower chelestrol, expelling body fat, boost good chelestrol (HDL) and inhibit bad cholesteral (LDL).
Chitosan has fat binding, liptropic, gelation and flocculation effect which encapsulate, over four times own weight, the fat in the gastro intestinal tract.
Chitosan is a natural substance which is derived from shellfish. It is soluble in stomach acid and its amino groups become positively charged by the acid, so it can bind to negatively charged fats during digestion. When the combined chitosan-fat goes into the small intestine, it binds with bile acids and cholesterol and absorbs up to 400 times its weight in water and begins to floc. This flocculation allows it to be expelled from the body and prevents them from entering the bloodstream.
WARNING: those who are allergic to shellfish should not take Chitosan.
As you know, we need some essential fatty acids and oil in our diet to be able to absorb fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K, so Chitosan can not be used in each meal. We recommend to take Chitosan pill with your biggest meal of the day.
